The 2nd Mayor Ben Hur Abalos Mayor's Cup
Golf umbrellas were needed early on and was used for the entire day. Notwithstanding, 85 out of 138 participants braved the weather and played on.
Interesting part of the tourney was its beneficiary the Ciara Marie Foundation. Charisse Abalos, Ciara's twin, emotionally recounted the story of how her family lost her sister, then 19 years old due to E. Coli infection. Ciara's loss was sudden and without warning and was a terrible blow to the Abalos family.
This tragedy inspired the family to put up the Ciara Marie Foundation, an organization that spearheads various charitable endeavours to help the less fortunate, not only in Mandaluyong, but in other cities and towns in the Philippines as well. To date their work has reached as far as Mindanao and has ranged from medical missions, educational campaigns, and even to setting up potable water supply for country folk.
The Address at Wack Wack was a proud sponsor of this noteworthy event, and recognizes the story behind the scene. We wish to see more inspired work from the Ciara Marie Foundation, a fitting way to celebrate Ciara's spirit and life.
